“Artist Note” | Why Subscribe?

In case you did not know, I started an email newsletter last year that I call my “Artist Notes.” They are little updates about my artist life, that dive a bit deeper than the typical social media post. Generally you’ll receive my note every other month; Although between September and December I send them out more frequently due to studio tours, calendar orders, and Christmas shows. Moving forward, I might try to send them out every month, as I anticipate more summer events during 2023.

Subscribe to my newsletter today!

I send out an “Artist Note” when I have any official collection “launches” or special events I want to invite you to. Other than on the website, it is unlikely to see a full launch on social media, simply due to their large scale. On Facebook, or Instagram, I am more likely to post one painting at a time, as they are completed, or perhaps share the Works-In-Progress. It is common to miss these posts if you are not active daily online. Often newsletter subscribers are the first to see a full collection, with some more intimate details about the paintings themselves.

NEWSLETTER VS SOCIAL MEDIA

The most common reason to subscribe to a newsletter is if you are not on any social media platforms. In that case you don’t see the regular posts and daily updates on projects or events. As a newsletter subscriber you can keep up to date without the media “overwhelm.”

Another reason I prefer to receive newsletters into my own inbox is because they are easy to find and access after I read them. One of my biggest pet-peeves with social media, is I might see a post (stories are the worst!) that catches my eye, and then I go back to search for the info and cannot find it anywhere! I love that I can go to my email anytime, and find exactly the info I’m looking for without any hassle.

My “Artist Note” is meant to be a personal connection from me to you. It does not matter to me if you are an art collector, or an art lover, or a Canadian Road-Tripper, or just a nature lover like myself, or maybe you are a fellow creator, or maybe you have no interest in art but are a good friend or family member who is curious about what I am up to in the studio and life. These are all great reasons to subscribe! I thrive on connection, and believe others do too. Sharing is caring, and a lot of inspiration comes from influencing one another through our work, travels, and life experiences.

I hope you’ll consider subscribing, and sharing with others who would be interested in connecting. If you still aren’t convinced you want to join the newsletter, you can still find me here: Website, Facebook, Instagram, and Linked-In.

Festival of the Arts | Northumberland

Talk about the ultimate mash up of create events in Northumberland during a two-week span starting Friday, September 16th and ending Sunday, October 2nd, 2022.

The 16-days of “celebrating resilience” takes place across Northumberland County, and you will find a variety of events that include music, drama, visual arts, photography, poetry and literature.

I will have more art up at the Warkworth Library, which you can view anytime during their hours of business. The “Foot by Foot” show is an eclectic mix of 12×12 inch visual creations. All pieces are priced at $125, so this is an excellent opportunity to invest in some original art!

Spirit of the Hills also has their exhibition up until December 10th; and the village of Warkworth will have their “gallery hop” on Friday, September 23rd, from 10am until 5pm.

Bring on September!
