North and West (now in oils)

I have been working like to a champ to plow through these new oil paintings, and although none of the new north/west paintings are complete, I am too excited to not share the journey.   Since 2004 I have been painting in acrylics, trying to obtain the look and feel of oil, and it hasContinue reading “North and West (now in oils)”

New Canadian Landscape Series (in oils)

It feels so good to be out of my creative-rut. Although now I am being challenged in new ways. You may have read my last blog “Revival of the Arts” where I share my first (real) attempt with oil painting. Since then, I have started a new collection of 5 Canadian Landscapes (or 8 ifContinue reading “New Canadian Landscape Series (in oils)”

Jasper vs. Banff

What a difference three years can make in the evolution of an artist. Both of these paintings are Alberta’s Rocky Mountains in the summer. The first one is Jasper (2015), the second one is Banff (2018). These will be hanging side by side at the Trent Hills Public Library in Campbellford from MayContinue reading “Jasper vs. Banff”

Canadian Custom Art | Rocky Mountains

Last year a friend of mine drove through the Rocky Mountains with her family (one year after I started pumping out my Jasper paintings)… when she returned and shared her photos, I asked to use one to do a line drawing. Which I did, and gifted to her shortly after. This year, right before myContinue reading “Canadian Custom Art | Rocky Mountains”

Life Revival

I feel like life is reviving itself: Days are getting longer, we’ve had more sun and some mild temps. Things are moving, and getting done. Feeling good. Be warned: I’ve been busy covering a lot of ground, this is like four blogs in one! ART CONTEST WINNER First things first: Thank you to everyone whoContinue reading “Life Revival”

A Year In Review

One year ago, I held my first private art show “Two Days In Jasper.” It was a very small show, only 7 canvases (only 5 completed), quite experimental in my new style. The show gave me a positive push into 2016  when I received my first commissioned piece (along with 3 others this year). ItContinue reading “A Year In Review”

Canadian Landscapes

WELL. I’m struggling to start this blog entry. A week ago today, I returned from a 9 day trip across Canada. I have a friend who moved to Vancouver, so we drove her car out west and then I flew home. Holy memories! We have been friends for 27 years (we met when were 10Continue reading “Canadian Landscapes”

Northumberland Hills Hospital

Since July my painting “Earth Energy” has been hanging in the gallery hall at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg. I consider this a community piece, as half of the proceeds will be donated between the hospital and the art committee. This acrylic painting will be hanging in the hall named “Sumac Street” until mid-December. It isContinue reading “Northumberland Hills Hospital”

Blessed by Earth & Sky

No words can really describe the gratitude I’m feeling after yesterday’s art show. When you have a drop-in event on a long weekend, you’re taking a chance. Then when no one shows up right away you start to worry and wonder if anyone is really coming… and you remind yourself, no matter how the dayContinue reading “Blessed by Earth & Sky”

Art & Community

So much has been going on in my art-life. In one week “Earth & Sky” happens. Other then varnishing, I’m pretty prepared for the show. The 3 new paintings are complete and will be for sale, plus 1 large one (Sacred Landscape) will be at the show incomplete and not for sale.   There willContinue reading “Art & Community”
