The Creative Fire is Re-ignited…

Sometimes it’s hard to decide what goes in the blog (public) and what goes in the newsletter (private). That being said, it’s important for you to know that not all content is created equally and if you’d like to learn more about my work, feel free to sign up for the monthly newsletter here: Jennifer Anne Burke, Artist Notes.

I have also started a Substack where I post my poetry combined with art to offer a unique slant to my offerings: Jennifer Anne Burke. Things might get a little weird there… as I find myself going waaaaaaay back through old writing and art work, hence the “creative fire” being re-ignited.

My work is starting to become divided between two different worlds: The outer world (the landscapes and travel) and the inner world (symbolism and imagination). I am in the process of two completely different projects, and am undecided as to how much to share (how interested are you really?), and what to keep private.

Above is a 2-point perspective drawing I did in highschool (1995), and two works of art my father did in the 1970’s. A lot of his work was symbolism (on the back of the bottom right painting, he has a list on the back of what each object represents). As I have gotten older, and deeper into yoga, meditation, and energy work, I often find vivid imagery comes to me that I “wish” I could paint. This is what I want to try next: sharing my inner world in my art. More “story telling” than the landscape painting.

So, be warned… things might get a little weird around here! (But don’t worry, I’m still working on “Near & Far” at the same time!).

I’ll share more in my April “Artist Note.”
