What a year! I am so happy the “Near and Far” project was finally completed (it took two years), had it’s time in the summer sun on display at Black Cat Cafe, and was well received by my collectors and followers.
So, what’s next? I’m taking a bit of a break. I do have a few projects happening in the back ground, but I’m putting a pause on the “business” aspect of my art. I’ve enjoyed my time in the community, working with Spirit of the Hills, participating in markets, shows, and festivals… but now I want to cocoon and create privately for awhile. I’ll still be semi-active on social media, but I will no longer be sending out my “Artist Note” newsletter (today will be the final one), or taking custom orders. There are many other artists in our community who can provide their creative services to you!
I’ve been feeling the need to create more space in my life. To pace my plans and projects in a more manageable way. So thank you to everyone who has been following this artist journey over the past decade! Here’s a little trip down memory lane…
- In 2015 me and two close friends did a 2-day road-trip into Jasper, Alberta. The Rocky Mountains shook me to my core, and inspired me to start painting again. I had a clear vision for my first official “collection” which became “Two Days in Jasper.”
- From there I started doing annual shows, usually at Christmas. Jennifer Trefiak and I also did some spring shows together.
- When I joined “Spirit of the Hills” I was able to start showing my art through-out Northumberland County, and you’ve likely seen my art at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, the Campbellford Library, the Warkworth Library, the Parrott Gallery in Belleville, or even at our Cobourg Waterfront Festival booth.
- In 2017 I did a roadtrip from Southern Ontario, across western Canada to Vancouver, B.C. to help a life-long friend move! It inspired soooo much art, including Alberta’s Hoodoos and Kicking Horse River (my favourite stop of all time).
- The last decade of roadtrips have taken me to many classic Canadian locations, all of which you find and see in my paintings.
- I have had my work at the “Shop on 3” Art Gallery Northumberland in Cobourg, displayed at the Chamber of Commerce during Cobourg’s summer art-crawl, I had a painting included in one of Colborne Art Gallery’s juried shows, and a small collection was shared in Port Hope at the Northumberland Arts Gallery and Shop.
It has been a busy 10-years of growth and success, but it is time to pause. Please remember, I still have some art available for sale. If you have been wanting an original “Jennifer Anne Burke” now is the time to get it!
Thank you for you support, and you can expect to see a blog post here again in a few months, just no more newsletters!
With Gratitude,
Jennifer Anne Burke.
